Since launching Droplets earlier this year we’ve had a few inquiries about whether the cute smiling droplet has a name. The short answer is “yes”--Dewey.
But the long answer is more fun. So here you go.
When we decided to create a Drops app for kids, the app’s name was … well, obvious. But we had no plans of changing the Drops logo. That is, until Dewey insisted.
Dewey just showed up one day in our graphic designer’s sketchbook and demanded to be seen.
Plop.
We were on a deadline so we ignored Dewey for a while. But then …Plop. Plop. Plop.
In the end, Dewey won.
Plop. Plop. Plop. Plop. Plop. Plop. Plop.
Suddenly everyone had ideas on how to embellish Dewey’s identity.
Too urban.
Too scary.
Trademark issues.
Finally, eschewing all monikers, Dewey decided on straight-forward simplicity. Like Droplets itself.
Introducing ... Dewey, the Droplet
PS In light of the global COVID-19 lockdown Dewey has temporarily morphed into a distance learning aide for teachers and parents using Droplets for remote and homeschooling.
